Automotive Painter – Restoration & Restomod

Z2 Motorsports is looking for an experienced Automotive Painter to join our growing muscle car restoration and restomod shop.

We specialize in classic muscle cars, restorations, restomods, and custom performance vehicles. We're looking for a painter who takes pride in producing exceptional finishes and wants to work on exciting vehicles where craftsmanship and quality matter.

This is not a high-volume collision-shop position. Our focus is on quality restoration and custom work, including complete repaints, color changes, custom finishes, and high-end restoration projects.

What You'll Do

As a painter at Z2 Motorsports, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality finishes on classic, muscle, and performance vehicles. Responsibilities include:

  • Complete vehicle refinishing

  • Basecoat/clearcoat application

  • Single-stage paint application when appropriate

  • Color matching and paint mixing

  • Sealer, primer, basecoat, and clearcoat application

  • Proper masking and vehicle preparation

  • Refinishing individual panels and components

  • Engine compartment, trunk, jamb, and underside refinishing

  • Wet sanding, buffing, and final paint correction

  • Identifying and correcting paint imperfections

  • Working closely with our body technicians to ensure vehicles are properly prepared before paint

  • Maintaining paint equipment, spray guns, and work areas

  • Following proper paint mixing, application, and safety procedures

  • Inspecting finished work to ensure it meets our quality standards

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced painter who has a strong eye for detail and takes personal pride in the finished product.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional automotive painting experience

  • Experience with complete vehicle repaints

  • Strong knowledge of modern automotive paint systems

  • Excellent spray-gun technique

  • Experience producing high-quality clearcoat finishes

  • Strong color-matching skills

  • Experience wet sanding and buffing

  • Understanding of proper surface preparation and how it affects the final finish

  • Ability to identify and correct paint defects

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a larger restoration team

  • A commitment to producing consistently high-quality work

Restoration or custom-paint experience is preferred but not required. An experienced collision painter who produces excellent work and wants to transition away from production collision work is encouraged to apply.

Z2 Motorsports is looking for an experienced Automotive Body Technician to join our growing restoration and restomod shop.

We specialize in muscle cars, restorations, restomods, and custom builds. This is an opportunity for a skilled body technician who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants to work on interesting cars where quality matters more than simply getting the next collision job out the door.

What You'll Do

As part of our team, you'll perform high-quality body and restoration work on classic and performance vehicles, including:

  • Body panel repair, replacement, and alignment

  • Rust and corrosion repair

  • Quarter panel, floor, rocker, and structural panel replacement

  • Metal finishing and bodywork

  • Panel fitment and gap adjustment

  • Door, hood, trunk, and fender alignment

  • Body filler application and block sanding

  • Surface preparation for primer and paint

  • Disassembly and reassembly of repair and restoration projects

  • Repairing previous bodywork and correcting poor-quality repairs

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems

  • Engine and transmission installation

  • Suspension, steering and brake upgrades

  • EFI and fuel-system installations
